Cards

Are there any ways to increase the chances of getting a specific card?
You can drop to a lower arena which should have fewer options for chests to increase your odds.
Can you get cards from previous arenas?
Yes. You can get cards from current arena and any you passed.
Is there a way to view stats of a card that is ready for upgrade?
Tap the card, then tap upgrade. It'll bring up the card info. You actually upgrade the card from the info window. You can also hold down on the card to pull up its stats.
How much Gold do Rares and Epics increase after purchasing them in the shop?
Commons jump up 1-2 gold sometimes, Rares go from 40 to 56, then 70-something, Epics go from 2,000 to 3,600.

Arenas

Can I select and play in earlier arenas?
No. Once you graduate out of an arena you cannot play in it again unless you move down an arena by getting demoted.
Is it possible to move down an arena?
Yes. You need to lose more than the minimum requirement of trophies (~50 cups) for that arena to get demoted.

Is there any benefit to staying at Arena 1?
There's differeing opinions on this being discussed here.
How does matchmaking work?
Matchmaking is based purely on trophies, not King Tower level.
I notice when you request it says "at x arena you can request x commons and x rares". Does this ever actually change?
No, it's always 10 common/1 rare.

Chests

Why do I see chests from an arena I haven't reached yet?
The chest you receive is from the best of the two Arenas competing. So if an A5 is fighting an A6, the chest will automatically be from A6.
How often to magical chests drop?
You get your first one fairly quick, then you get your next one around the 130th chest then the next one at the 200+ chest range, this is subject to change.
If all my chest slots are full, should I keep playing? Will I miss out on anything?
The sequence order is based on how many chests you've received, not wins. Playing while having full chest slots will let you play for trophy's/fun/xp, and will pause the chest order. So no, playing with full chests will not make you miss any chests. The one drawback to note is that the higher arena you are, the harder it is to open a specific card through chests. So if you need some Arena 1 Epic cards, they'll be harder to get in Arena 2 chests.
Is there an order to how the chests drop? How can I tell what chest I will get next?
If you search you should find posts that have lists of chests. Here's one example. There are people posting that patterns are wrong for them, others are posting they're right. It's possible you're placed somewhere into the list at random
Is there anyway to remove chests to make room for others?
No. They're yours until you open them.

Strategies

How do I get better?

How do I win against...
  • Prince: What I've been doing is dropping a tombstone right in front of the prince. The prince will break the tombstone and the 6 skeletons will come out and kill the prince. Easy and only costs 3 elixir
  • Baby Dragon: Use ranged creeps (preferably not small ones like Minions or Spear Goblins as the Dragon has AoE) or something big that can soak up damage while your Crown Towers finish the dragon off. Musketeer is good because it will still live after the Dragon does.
  • Goblin Barrel: A well-timed Arrow spell will kill off all the Goblins in one hit before they can do any damage. You'll still take about 20 damage from the Barrel impact but that's it. Cheap creeps like Spear Goblins or Archers will also deal with the Barrel but you might take a few 100 damage. Bomber also works well if they've positioned the Barrel off to one side but if they hit your Tower dead centr the Goblins will be separated individually and you'll take some dmg.
  • Balloons: You need to kill it off before it reaches your tower. Air troops like Minions or Minion Horde are good because they don't get hit by the Balloon, or a strong ranged creep like the Musketeer will do the job.
  • Giant + Witch: Don't try to kill the giant first, but the witch. Anything you drop in front of the giant will be targeting him and he will be tanking the hits. Wait until the witch crosses the bridge and drop a knight beside her (a mini pekka next to the witch should take care of her in two hits). He will make quick work of the witch cheaply. Then use whatever you have and need to kill the giant. You could also use a fireball and do some real additional damage to the witch AND the giant. Basically the witch becomes extremely squishy and you can focus on the giant.

Tips and Tricks

1.Mix Up Your Deck

Before starting the round, be sure to mix up your deck with high to low Elixr attacks along with ground and aerial attacks. This becomes increasingly important as you unlock more cards and new characters.

2.Don’t Be the First to Attack

Ideally, you’d like for your opponent to make the first move while you fill up on Elixr. This will allow you to defend alongside your towers while setting up a nice counterattack. This doesn’t always work, but it’s always good to be ahead of your opponent in resources. There are times when your starting deck of cards are lacking, so it’s a good opportunity to get rid of some of your weaker attacks such as your fireball which is not as relevant early in the round.

3.Balance Your Attacks and Defense

Defense will win you the most matches so be sure to defend as you are attacking. Although you will want to be the first to knock out your opponent’s towers, it’s important for your to salvage yours along the way.

4.Don’t Rush Your Attacks and Combine Forces

It’s important to build up your Elixr supply and think about what combination of cards you’d like to summon. Keep in mind that two cards can work a lot more efficiently with each other. For example, pair your Giant with your Skeleton Army. This will distract your opponents towers as your Giant creeps closer to his powerful attacks.

5.Skeleton Army is Your Best Friend

Although they are sensitive to arrow attacks, they are both versatile on attack and defense, especially when working with a Giant. Be sure to summon them if you see an opponent Giant or strong force come your way as the group will block the pathway towards your towers.
